Colorado Trip in October

This past month I got the chance to go back to Colorado and visit both my Grandma's and the rest of my family. My mom asked me to go back with her a few days early so we could help my Grandma clean out her house a bit, so I was very excited when I got the chance! I flew on Tuesday with Linzi and Trevor who had work off and we were able to get some things done. As you can see below we kind of love Pink.

My Grandma loves this ice cream, so we had a fun ice cream party one day while we were there. The first two days we were there without our husbands and my sister, we helped clean and my mom and I also went up to Denver and took my Grandma to one of her doctor visits. It wasn't anything way exciting or fun, but it was nice to spend some quality time with her.

This picture I took outside of our hotel room, but you can't really tell but it snowed hard one morning while we were there.

I was glad when this guy got into town.. He sure is special but I love him! We had a lot of fun shopping in hobby lobby!

Once the rest of our family got into town we headed to my other Grandma's house and were helping her find a broken pipe. . which involved lots of digging and Adam getting into her tractor.. It was fun to be around the whole family!

And we had lots of good laughs and poor Adam kind of squished in there.. but he did a good job digging!

Whenever we are back in Colorado it involves a lot of traveling back and forth between the Grandma's houses since they live in the same town. Therefore, lunches, afternoons and dinners are all mixed around with each family. This is a picture I took of my Grandma's wedding dress, I just wanted a picture of the simplicity and tiny tiny wedding dress of my Grandma Shifflets.

And this is my Grandparents on their wedding day, even though it's not the best picture, again I wanted it for my records.

One fun night at my Grandma Shifflets my cousin Kipp came over and was having a major dance off. We were getting a kick out of it!
He's actually pretty dang good, but the pictures don't even do it justice.

My dad still loves to photo bomb all my pictures. .

We rented an Escalade which was a lot of fun.. but as you can tell a little squished at times.

We went and visited my Grandpa's grave sites while we were there. We haven't got to see them both done and so that was nice. It also makes it easy for our family because they are right by each other so that helps. It was kind of weird not having them around but I don't think that'll ever get easy. I miss them both so much! I know they are in heaven watching down on me and my little family!

Lunch at Taco Casa with the Meserve clan
Just a random picture of my Grandma's backyard, just wanted a picture. I have a lot of memories running around back here and seeing my grandpa on the porch

The last night we were in town we went to dinner with my Uncle Jim, Aunt Vickie and their sons. It was fun and we ate at a great hamburger place!  Our cousin Myles has a sweet baby girl Maci.. Good thing Trev and Linzi aren't planning on having kids soon.. haha.

After dinner we went and grabbed frozen yogurt and then headed to Myles' house for some games.. it was so fun!

And as you can see.. we were all quite exhausted!

The trip was a really fun trip and it was so nice to have the whole family around to spend time with our family in Colorado. I wish they all lived closer! The next day we left bright and early for our flight out of Denver. I liked flying instead of driving.. the drive is 12 hours and I was certainly glad for options of flying instead of driving!
Some memorable things from this trip.. I got to spend some time going through my Grandma Shifflets jewelry and I got to pick out a few rings that I love..
At my Grandma Meserve's we went through a  binder that she is putting together of all my dad's experiences and then a lot of family history, such as marriage certificates, death birth etc. it was really cool!
We also got to hit up all the good 'eat spots' and were happy to get everything in that we wanted to!

I really enjoy going back there and hopefully can go back plenty of times as I get older!

5th Wedding Anniversary

I really have nothing exciting to post about our 5th wedding anniversary.. and sadly, no pictures. I can't even believe that it's our 5th! 5 years just sounds crazy. I am really happy that I've gotten to spend 5 years with Adam and it's amazing how much you learn and grow in that time period. This year Adam got free BYU tickets on Friday night, our anniversary. Now usually I am really kind of a brat and absolutely would have thrown a complete fit and we would have done something here together, however I decided that Adam should go and enjoy these free tickets. He hasn't been to a game in a few years and he's such a huge fan. I did not feel like driving up there and driving back home that same night. I had gone to Colorado previously to that week and didn't want to travel again for awhile. So we decided to spend our anniversary apart for the first time. Adam decided to take one of our friends and their young son who has type 1 diabetes and loves BYU. They had surprised this young boy and he loved it! Then Adam met up with his parents in Provo who also were going to the game and Adam took our little 8 year old nephew! They had such a blast together and Adam really enjoyed sharing the experience with these young boys. I stayed home and went to a nice 'anniversary dinner' with my family and then went to the Dixie High Football game which was so fun! The next day was busy with a baby shower and What Women Want Expo but Saturday night Adam and I went to a quick dinner, which seems to always happen to us on special occasions. We ended up only having time for Port of Subs before our movie, but oh well that kind of stuff we always seem to remember! We went and saw Captain Phillips and really enjoyed it! It was a super laid back 5th anniversary even though  I had always pictured myself going somewhere for this 5th milestone, but sometimes even simple things end up working out better for the two of us!
I have a feeling this next year is going to be one of the best ones yet :)

A Few Shenanigans

I am making an effort to get all caught up on this lovely blog of mine. I have a lot of exciting updates and want to start by being all caught up on recent shenanigans  Adam and I have been busy this fall just with work and school. School has definitely been a little tougher than expected but at the same time it hasn't completely taken over my life.. at least not my weekend life, just week-day life! Every week day night I spend on the computer and reading, getting ready to do my discussions that are due by Thursday. I am already greatly looking forward to December when I'll get a nice month, month and a half off from school completely! I cannot believe it's already November and feel like my favorite time of the year has gone way too fast for my liking. I haven't even done any festive activities, so hopefully November I can slow down a little bit more and enjoy all the fun things going on. Yesterday was actually Halloween.. no big plans we went to dinner and enjoyed a very fun night with some of our friends and family. Adam dressed up as one of our family friends.. and from the picture below you can tell he did quite well! Our neighborhood is so quiet we never have any trick or treaters, it's so lame! I think next Halloween will be much more fun.

Two Peas in a Pod

I wanted to post some pictures that are very random and in no particular order just a few things we've been up too lately. .

Working very hard! This kid works his butt off all day!

Pink Sunset

A little fall fun with this cutie Miss Oakely! We love her, as you can see!

Really fun girls lunch at PF with these ladies! Tash is expecting baby #2!

The life of this pup... She loves to snuggle in my clean clothes..bra included, and in my warm spot in our bed.. cute gal!

Pioneer Day & Holden Family Time

So I am only going on three months of being behind on blogging about our big trip
this summer for Pioneer Day. .but better late than never?

My husband has several family members that live in Fairview, UT, so
every other (hopefully it'll turn into every year) year Adam's parents and siblings
go there for the holiday.
This cute little town puts on quite the show with a very long but awesome parade
and a really fun Demolition Derby!

This year everyone was heading up on Tuesday afternoon, so Adam and I
left town around 3 or 4 to drive up to Fairview.
It's about a 3 1/2 hour trip for us..
We ended up having to stop in Richfield to get stupid windshield wipers,
my husband was paranoid with all the rain we were having. .
Then we got delayed in one of the small towns we drove through because
of their parade so it took us awhile to get up there.
Once we made it all the family was at the ATV Rodeo, which has the same
events as a regular rodeo, but with four-wheelers, motorcycles etc.
It was pretty entertaining to watch!
It was fun to see all of Adam's cousins, aunts & uncles there.
It's quite the big family!
Adam's two cousins, Kammy & Kandy are really sweet and open their
homes up to the Holden families. My brother in law and his family stayed at
Kandy's house, while Adam's parents and us stayed at Kammy's.
Both of Adam's cousins have kids just a few years younger than us too, so that
makes it fun!
The next morning was Pioneer Day!
Like I said before, this town puts on quite the parade show! I love it!
They have all the other small towns come around and participate in this parade.
It's also fun to watch my nephews grab all the candy they can get!
I think they all came away with huge bags of candy.. it was impressive.

After the parade we walked around a little outdoor festival and
then enjoyed some down time.
Before the Demolition Derby started we had a big family BBQ which was a lot of fun!

Later that night was the big Derby! This little town sure puts on a
good Derby and a good little parade..
It was actually a lot of fun, but kind of slow this year.
It's fun to sit up in the stands with all of Adam's family and
get really into the derby. All the yummy 'fair' food isn't bad either.
This year Adam got asked to participate in the 'frozen t-shirt contest'
and his cousins wouldn't let him say no..
He ended up taking 3rd place and I was really impressed with his
t-shirt ripping skills! He won a little gift card to one of the places there.

(Sorry so blurry)

(don't know if this will work.. it's a video of us cheering on Adam)

The firework show at the end of the night is by far one of the best
show's I've seen! I love their fireworks.
They set them off right next to the stadium where we are all sitting
and shut down all the lights.. and they sure don't skimp
on the good fireworks. I love watching them!

Later that night we had quite the experience with Adam's cousins!
These families are such a hoot to be around and it's never a dull moment.
His older cousins (Kammy & Kandy), who are sisters live a few streets
apart form each other and have 2 boys the same high school age.
Adam's brother and his family were all staying at the opposite house
as we were and that night after we all got home and almost ready for bed,
Kandy calls us to come over and look at some fireworks they were going to shoot
off in their backyard. . We had told them we were too tired and weren't
going to come over, so she started to call us idiots and just was being
really funny.. she may have had a few drinks in her.. :)

After that we had decided to go ahead and head over to her house
to watch their fireworks. It was Adam, myself and his cousin Holden.
We got over there and watched their little show and then
as we were getting ready to leave I overheard my cute niece say something
to Kandy about toliet papering Kammy's house (where we were staying)..
once I told Holden & Adam this it somehow turned into a war between houses.
It was one of the most memorable nights I have had in a long time!
Kandy's house had 2 teenage boys participating and my Brother in law
and his 3 kids.. so needless to say we were very outnumbered back
at our house because Adam's parent's weren't one's to attack and
Kammy was going to bed early..before she went to sleep
she did dress up in a ninja outfit that had me dying..
She got toliet paper and put it around as a diaper and then put toliet paper rolls
up her shirt for protection.. seriously one of the funniest things I've ever seen..
The boys kind of staked out the house and then decided to
drive over to Kandy's and check on them because we thought we heard
a four wheeler coming around. The boys went over and
everyone at Kandy's was dressed in dark hoodies and were running in the street
so we knew we probably had barley caught them.
Even poor Holden jumped in Adam's trunk once to head down there with a big
squirt gun.. he did well and got my Brother in law good :)
One of the trips to the other house I missed and when Adam came flying back
into the drive way all of the sudden Kandy pops out of the trunk and is trying
to chase Adam.. which she can't, she's just doing circles and laughing..resulting
in ultimately getting tackled by her nephew. It was hilarious.. She then decides to run
back to her own house and by this time
we are thinking they are definitely planning something..
On our last attempt to the house to get everyone we had Adam's dad drive his
car too so we can devise a distraction.. His dad had his lights shinning right
in my eyes, as I was the driver of our car, and I let the boys out
and then all of the sudden I could barley see and kids were running towards
my car.. I couldn't see Adam or Holden so I panicked and stopped in the middle
of the street, so I wouldn't leave them.. and I got bombarded by children
and crazy Kandy. They made a poster that they stuck on our car and streamers and
silly string and they even  had paint and were writing on our car..This was obviously a well
thought of plan.. By the time Adam got back in the car.. I had gotten a little
mad when his brother took his nice polo shirts and put them on top of the trash..
haha Adam told me to pretend to freak out and everyone and get out of the car to
get the shirts. so I did.. and I really kind of scared everyone on accident :)
It was all in good fun..
When we got back to our house it was 2 a.m. and I was exhausted so we decided

to call it quits and head to bed.. Little did we know they came back
and toliet papered- and wrote all of over our cars.. 'idiots'.. hahah..
Sorry for the long detailed story, but I can't forget this fun summer night in Fairview!
The next day we kind of all relaxed since we were heading home.
Adam and I had decided to go up to Bountiful for a few days, since we hadn't been
up there in over 6 months. It was a good decision.
Before we left we had to stop at T-Cee's again..
Their shakes are to die for and their fries.. I am craving it right now..

We then made the 2 hour or so trip up north.
I am glad we took off a few extra days to spend some more time with the family.
The first day we got up there it was already the evening so we hung around
the house and lit our own fireworks. It was fun!

The next day was Friday and happened to be my mother in law's birthday.
We decided we wanted to do some shopping and I definitely wanted to go
to the new City Creek mall since I had never been.
It is beyond beautiful and I love it there! I kind of want to go in the fall/winter..
haha okay just fall time because I'm sure it's really pretty up there.
I didn't get a ton of things up there because I had my husband by my
side the whole time being annoying, but it was still fun.
That night after shopping we stopped at a yummy mexican place and
just relaxed that night at home with everyone.

My little nephew Jack was so cute! It was fun this trip because he
had plenty of time to warm up to me and he was also obsessed
with my John Deer blanket and he always wanted to cuddle in it!
It was also super sad when he started to cry when we were leaving..

That Saturday we headed up to Park City. It had been a long time since
we had been up there and it was so pretty! It was a little cloudy and
just beautiful. Unfortunately, I didn't get any pretty pictures because we were just
at the outlet stores and then had to get home. .
I think I'll need to head up there soon again!

The next day was Sunday and we were heading back home.
We had such a fun time with the Holden's! I love spending time
with all of them and especially getting that quality time with my
sister in law Jen.
We had lots of good late night chats to almost 2 a.m. and I love those!
She also helped me put a lot of things in perspective and get
excited for what the future might hold.
We miss these guys and sure wish they lived closer..

It was also a great end to all the summer fun!
On our way home Adam gave in to my wishes to stop at Ikea.
We bought a floor lamp was all.. but there was so many other things
we wanted to purchase. I love that Ikea..

That is my big recap of our Fairview & Bountiful fun! :)

Labor Day Weekend 2013

This Labor Day weekend was no different than the ones I've had in the past.
We headed up to Pine Valley on Friday afternoon and got to enjoy the
cool weather and beauty of this valley!

Our little dog is always quite excited to be going somewhere different
and jumps around the backseat of my car.. probably not the best idea but
I can't really control her!

(too bad I can't get this picture to flip)

Some beautiful views of Pine Valley..

The whole weekend it was really rainy so we mostly stayed indoors
and played Catch Phrase, Phase 10, Uno Attack and Golf.
It was actually the perfect weather as the temperature was only in the 70's.

On Saturday afternoon we had a big BBQ with lots of friends..
Nielson's, Condie's and Randall's all came over for a big meal
and to play a fun game of Catch Phrase. .

The game was a lot of fun but really intense with that many players.
It's always so much getting together with these families..
I consider most of them like Aunt's and Uncle's and always look forward to seeing them.

On Sunday we had a nice relaxing day at the cabin and then my mom and I
decided we should all go on a hike.
We found a nice trail along the Santa Clara River in the park, so we got everyone
ready and started off on the trail.
It was beautiful! It was cloudy outside and was the perfect temperature
to enjoy the outdoors.
My dad had turned around and decided to get the truck for us
and pick us up at the end.
The hike itself I believe is like 2 miles or so, and we went a little further than that
because we weren't quite sure where the actual ending was.
In our last stretch it started to pour and so we kind of tried to run fast to the truck.
It was a perfect ending though and we made some great memories in the forest!

It was a pretty perfect weekend.
The rest of our Sunday was spent playing games and eating a delicious
Spaghetti dinner! Did I ever mention how good we eat when at the cabin?
It's amazing.. my dad always plans out great meals and my mom
makes or buys the best kind of desserts..
I always gain weight when eating in PV.

My dad also got his golf cart kind of 'pimped' out so it'll go a little faster
and has a lift on it. It's pretty cool now!
However, the battery had issues and Adam and I dyed right on the slope
coming up to the cabin and had to get pulled by my Dad...
it was funny to witness..

The rain all weekend was so relaxing and fun to watch.
There really is not a prettier or more relaxing place to be than in Pine Valley..

As you can see.. Tana is always passed out on our drive home.. just like a child..

I'm already greatly looking forward to General Conference up there soon!

Washington County Demolition Derby

Okay so it's been a little while since I've posted on
my lovely blog. I almost check on it every day but then I
think of all the things to post and I feel lazy.. but really I need all my
pictures on one computer so I don't have any excuses!

I thought I would post on the most recent happenings..
Last weekend we decided to go the Washington County Demolition Derby!

.. I still have yet to post about our big trip up north and to the
Fairview Demolition Derby.. but don't worry.. I will!

Anyway, Adam and I went to the derby with my brother, his wife, her little
brother and a friend!
I thought the actual derby was kind of lame and really long with
hardly any action... but the overall experience was fun!
Adam has never been to the Washington County Fair or Derby and
I haven't been in years so it was fun to go out there for the night!

There were a few good things about the derby..
They did a really special thing for a military fiance..They announced they
were going to give a lucky family member of someone serving a chance
to ride in the derby car.. so this cute girl ends up 'winning' so she goes
over to get ready for her derby ride and while she has her back turned, putting
on her helmet, the driver and her fiance switch places
 (obviously wearing the same outfit)
and so her fiance is the one driving her around on her ride
and at the end they both get out and then he takes off his helmet
and .. there he is!
It was really cute! I love moments like those.

The other good thing about the derby was the rollover we had..
Those make it somewhat exciting!

And the other good things were my watermelon/coconut snow cone
and our kettle popcorn!
Obviously those are very good things about the fair!

I've been spending the last few weekends just relaxing in my bliss of doing
nothing before school starts. I know that once is starts it'll probably
hit me with a ton of bricks, smack in the face and I may want to drop out right
away but I'll just have to plunge through my first semester and get back in
the swing of school!
I think Adam is gong to have quite the adjustment once he sees how busy I
am with school work.. We were married for almost 2 years when I was finishing
my bachelors, so I'm hoping it won't put him into too big of a shock or make him
feel too neglected! (I am sure he'll entertain himself)
I am blessed that school is online, so for the most part I should be able to do it on my
own time and be able to still live life close to the same!

I can't believe August is half way over! I am ready for fall!
I am definitely starting to get that itch for cooler weather and fun fall festivities.
The rest of August will go by fast! We may be heading to Pine Valley this weekend
for a night and then up north the next weekend for our nephew and then
Pine Valley again for Labor Day weekend..
When all my weekends are packed with activities and places to go it seems to make
the months fly by!

Well I am hoping to get on here soon with a really fun post about
our adventures up in Fairview and Bountiful with my in-law family!
:)
